What Am I Paying For?

What am I paying for?
When you pay your photographer, you are not paying only for the time spent on the day of the shoot.  You are also paying me for my:
*Expertise to get the job done,
*The time I spend on editing.  Since I do hand editing and not batch editing, this may take several hours of work.
*My 9 years of experience,
*My top level professional equipment that I use,
*The risk of my equipment getting stolen, lost or damaged during the shoot.
*The time I spend on designing your album, placing the order at the printers, collecting the order etc.
*My initial costs to have these products printed and supplied.

Why do I Have To Sign a Contract?

Why Do I have to sign a Contract?
Since I am a service provider who works hard to maintain a professional image I need to have terms and conditions that protect my work, my art and my reputation and which guarantee that I will not let my clients down on their big day.  The Contract is there to protect both me and you before, during and after our session.

Can I Have the RAW/original/unedited files?

Can I have the RAW/original/unedited files?
Unfortunately this is not possible.  I take great pride in my editing skills and I only deliver the final product to clients to ensure that only my best work is presented to the public.  My unedited work is considered as an unfinished canvas painting that is not ready to be in the spotlight.

Can I Have All the Photos Taken On the Day?

Can I have all the photos taken on the day?
I take a lot of time carefully selecting only the very best photos from our sessions.  This can be a long process to also ensure that only my best work gets presented to the public.  Extra photos can be viewed by arranging a viewing session which is charged as a consultation fee or by ordering an online dropbox gallery at a charge.  You can always purchase extra photos from the day separately or all the photos which are not added in your chosen package, at an added cost.

Who owns the copyright?

Who owns the copyright to the images?
I retain the copyright to all unedited and edited products but you will own a personal use copyright to make unlimited reproductions for yourself and your family.  However, you are not allowed to sell my work.

Can My Friend Who Wants To Be a Photographer, Come and Take Photos at Our Shoot?

Can my friend, who wants to be a photographer, come and take photos at our shoot?
Unfortunately not, but you can always schedule a second opportunity with your friend alone to practice before our session.  In future I will be conducting workshops where young photographers such as your friend can come and learn how I capture beautiful images.

Can I Publish the Photos to My Social Media and Enter in to Competitions?

Can I publish the photos on my social media and enter in to competitions?
Yes, please do.  This is strongly encouraged, however I do require you to please always give me credit with a link to either my website or Facebook page.

Can I Edit the Photos Myself?

Can I edit the photos myself?
Unfortunately I do not allow this at all.  My art work is the image that is presented to the public and what people associate me with and editing software such as instragram can ruin my very hard work in seconds.

When Will I Get My Photos?

When will I get my photos?
Since I do hand editing a whole shoot can take hours to complete.
Regular sessions can take up to 3 months.
Weddings can take up to 6 months.

How Long do You Keep My Photos?

How long do you keep my photos on your hard drive?
I strongly encourage and suggest that you make backups of your photos as soon as I provided you with them.  I periodically and very often clean up my hard drives to make space for new work and so I only keep photos for about 1 – 2 months after the session before I remove them.

What Time Of Day Will My Session Be?

What time of the day should I schedule my session?
The golden hour of the day is the best time for beautifully lit photos.
This happens right before, during and after sunset.

What should I Wear?

What you wear will play a big part in the visual quality of your photos.  Here are a few suggestions:

  • Plain clothes without logos/text and no busy flower patterns are preferred.
  • Choose 1-3 solid colours with similar tones for your couple portrait. Try to have your partner’s outfit complement yours.
  • Choose a shirt/top with long sleeves or at least to the elbow.
  • Choose long pants or a dress/skirt just above the knee.
  • Keep jewelry simple and minimalistic.
  • Avoid bright white shirts.

You can have a look on my Pinterest (Find me @Organictales) under “What to wear”.  There are a few examples of colour codes.  Most important is not to wear busy patterns.
Please do not specially buy clothes for the shoot  – these are merely guidelines for you to consider.

Do you have a Studio?

I do not. My shoots are all done on location in nature and the natural light provided and sometimes added off camera flash to enhance the image.

How do I make a booking?

Great! To  make a booking, please send me an email at landi.groenewald@gmail.com with details of what kind of shoot you are interested in. I will contact you shortly after with a quote.
