We met in High School and the rest is history.
Walking down the isle, for both of us.
We wanted a outside ceremony, and the weather did not cooperate, but we went with it and got married in te rain.
The rain was getting worse and worse the entire day. That did not stop is enjoying every minute of it. The venue was so muddy and more than 7 of our guests cars got stuck in the mud
Most of the groom’s friends helped with the Cars, after that they were covered in Mud and thereafter we all danced and partied the night away.
Shandre Groenewald from Expressions Makeup Artistry did my beautiful make-up, she always does my make up since my matric farewell.
Danelle Nel from In Fine Feather Salon is my hairdresser almost forever and she is the best!

When you travel past Barkley-East on a gravel road of about 120km, you get to a quaint little town called Rhodes. Definitely a tourist spot to add to your bucket list. But, when you keep driving through Rhodes that same gravel road will take you over one of the highest passes in South Africa. From there you will witness the most breathtaking views you can imagine. And right at the bottom of the Naude’s nek pass, I found myself on a beautiful farm about to shoot a wedding. Read their story below:
We met each other when I came to visit his sister who was a school friend of mine, but Peet was very shy so we didn’t really talk much. We eventually reconnected and started talking to each other during my first year of University and as they say – the rest is history.
The farm is an extremely special place for both of us. To us, there is no place more beautiful on earth and we really wanted to share our love for this unique spot with all our friends and family so they could also share in our fondness of it. It’s the only place we ever want to be.
On the wedding day, we had quite a bit of rain which created some muddy and slippery driving conditions on the farm roads. Since we were getting married in a forest, the road up to the ceremony area was also quite slippery. When the bridesmaids arrived, their vehicle completely slipped and got stuck. It took an army of men to literally push and pick up the girls Fortuner and turn it the right way around again. What an adventure!
We wouldn’t change a thing. Everything turned out perfectly. In the morning when it started raining, we just kept praying for it to clear up before the ceremony, and what a beautiful miracle when the rain stopped long enough for us to have our beautiful forest ceremony.
It’s really important to try and enjoy every moment of the process. Try not to stress about everything. Remember you have friends and family who can help so don’t be afraid to delegate some of the smaller tasks to them to help you. Don’t take everything on yourself. And again – just enjoy the entire process.

Yes, We’ve seen so many weddings being postponed becusse of Covid-19. With the uncertainty of when we’ll have lockdown again. We decided that we are going to host an intimate wedding. It was an absolute blessing. We were able to celebrate with our closest friends and family and we wouldn’t change it in a hundred years.
“Growing up on a farm teaches you about hard work, faith and perseverance.”
At the beginning of this year, I moved back to the farm after 15 years living all over the world. It was a big decision made just in time, since shortly after I arrived back on the farm, the world was turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic. I don’t, for one second, regret my decision. Being reunited with wide, open spaces and the quiet nights, it has been a welcome change after the city hussle I lived before in Cape Town.
One of the biggest delights of moving back to the farm, was getting to know the locals and specifically this young farmer in particular. With a heart of gold and values that would put many grown men to shame, this little farmer is living his best childhood possible. Surrounded by animals and nature and family who cherish his every move, this young farmer is growing up learning all the most valuable attributes needed to be an admirable man one day.
